Have you ever felt the gossip in your head, at the table behind or the glare of the mirror as you hurry by? As you go into the long weekend and as September hectic schedules start up after the long, laze of summer, don’t forget we’re all alike. We all worry, we all wonder.
Am I good enough? Am I going to get through this?
You will. All is well. All will be well. Serenity is your name. One of my favourite mixes to relax to has always been anything by Joe Hisashi, and particularly his scores for Studio Ghibli (and as piano mixes).

Every Person a Ripple of Whisper and Worry
Every person is a ripple in a pond
which pulses to the river and oceans beyond.
Life’s too short to breathe all the stress.
Just do what you can and enjoy the rest.
People see the world their way.
I see it as another.
The other way to see it,
question and wonder.
Laughter runs after us.
Giddy and quick.
Never quaint as the shop at the corner,
that tries the shine of new yellow paint.
Sunflowers of plastic and one orange chair.
It wobbles and whispers of nothing you’d dare.
This laughter sits high on judgement.
Reads the newspaper of relationships.
Dripped and fried in ghee.
It’s the newest fad on the shelf.
Even if it’s more ancient than most elves.
The tall sort, reeds who walked through fantasies.
We imagined these, limbs dangled off branches of trees.
Until laughter followed our limp and our lisp.
Broke our glasses. Kicked our comics.
Laughter stalked us in the night, as we tossed and turned. Wondering
might we have said the wrong thing.
Sometimes we whispered in the lull,
I am vulnerable.
Aren’t you?
