Why Tarot and not a Story?
Tarot, for me, has always been a story, it has always been the way I tapped into my intuition and my imagination. Turning it now, toward helping people, it really just me using it to uncover real-life stories. And truly, reality and fiction are one and the same. We all are the authors of our own stories and tarot is a way to tap into those stories, and connect with the truths from across the Veil.
Recently, I have been delving further into tarot as something more serious and more connected to my daily life and others lives than I had previously treated it. Before now, it was simply a method to allow me to explore characters, settings, plots, conflicts and other such aspects of writing, particularly as a writer of fantasy fiction.
But today, I was called to do a character spread, which I use to uncover what defines a character – their essence, their motives, their weaknesses, strengths, challenges and where they are ultimately going. But today I did it toward us. By that I mean, humanity and especially anyone who considers themselves a lightworker.
It was more than I could imagine, as often tarot is for me. It uncovers truths that I could never have thought up. And today, when I did it with the intention of seeking the essence of us, I found exactly that and more.
The Meaning of the Spread
- The top card stands for what defines a character or a person, in any given moment. (I pulled Judgement)
- The two cards below represent what defines our physical life. (I pulled the Devil and Six of Wands)
- The next two cards are what defines our conscious thought. (I pulled Seven of Swords and Three of Swords)
- The last two cards are the subconscious that can be tapped into if the essence of a person is fully realized. (I pulled the Star and Seven of Wands)

The Story of Our Ascension
We are rising. Every moment of every day, even if we are not willing, we are all rising. No one is left behind as the energies of the Earth begin to shift. But there are those of us more aware than others, we are the lightworkers, we are the guiders, the teachers, the way-showers, the speakers, the storytellers.
But regardless as to where you are, on your path. We all live upon this Earth. And this Earth is a free will zone. That means one thing: choice. We all face choices, every second of every day.
And thus, so is our defining trait, our essence: Judgement.
Every second of every moment we are faced with choices, paths to take and paths to diverge from. At this time, we are guided to take the path which will allow us to rise into a new form. Like the earth we have been born into, we took must allow ourselves to go through cycles of change, growing more and more.
However, our physical world is fraught with desires, addictions, pride, and self-obsession. That is the Devil and the Six of Wands. Ego holds tight to our actions, being driven by our conscious thoughts. It convinces us we must wear a mask, we must wear many masks and if we ever remove the mask, there will only be a terrible monster underneath. That is the Seven of Swords.
These all conspire to make us feel less than, to make us feel alone, abandoned, unwanted and so the cycle drives us to fall into the traps of the physical world, be it addictions, using others to feel better, or comparing ourselves to others.
But if we tap into the right changes, we will rise and shine like the light that we each are. We will be the Star.
But, as we do so, if we choose to take that path, we must do so with confidence, strength of will and stand our ground when it comes to sticking to and fully embracing whatever it is that we choose. That is Seven of Swords.
Be confident, go in the direction your intuition pushes you, trust yourself and know that it is up to you, and only you, to decide what to do with the time that is given to you.
Blessed be!
