There are a million, trillion different courses out there about how, by taking said course, you can become instant-confident. A bit like instant coffee. With the caffeine high too. The thing is, there is no such thing, like every trillion, billion other thing in the world, as an easy fix. Confidence is especially elusive. Confidence …
Be a Cloud: Isle of Skye
Above the sky, clouds streak, they bob and pass along in a mild manner more befitting a dodgy old man with walking stick than amorphous miracles of nature which humans will idly observe into definable form. There a cow. A cat. Now a ship. Stretched into a dragon. A boy reading a book. A griffin …
Bath: A Tub of History
Stylish. Unanimous. Uniform. Sleek. Polished. The famous Royal Crescent. Those words and their synonyms summarise Bath. A city which looks to have been built in one era, when in reality, it is part of as many eras as any city in these parts of the world. So what makes it so special? It’s in the …
Modernism: Visit Glasgow
Most people gave me an odd look, cocked their heads and were generally befuddled as to why I would stop in Glasgow. “You’d be better off going to Edinburgh. Glasgow’s just a city,” they insisted. But then again, the Glencoe Mountains isn’t the Isle of Skye but they both fall under ‘hiking through nature.’ Each …
Liveliness: Visiting Inverness
I’m rather lagging with these “Visiting” posts but I’ll delve into the epic saga of recent days when it is relevant to general interest. In short form, it basically means I’ll soon have a distinctive London theme to my topics. For now, I do somewhat miss the northern skies of Inverness. It feels very much …
An Avalanche of Detour Signs
“You are not seperate from the whole. You are one with the sun, the earth, the air. You don’t have a life. You are life.” Eckhart Tolle I like to think I embody the pastel colours of the above photograph, taken on an equally pastel temperature sort of day, mid-February, three years past when some things …
Quiet Destiny: Delphi
(An old post, transferred from my now cold blog, Introvert in the Corner). At one point, humans saw this city turned more village, with accompanying attractions these days, as the centre of the world. A modern Delphic home. Athens might have been the seat of power but Delphi predicted who would sit in it. …
Alone I Have the World: It Lives Within Me and You: A Poem
Here’s to all the new adventures to those far, wide and wondrous places of the heart, mind and universe! If I had the world Alone. I would chase the caribou across icy shields. If I had the world Alone. I would travel with the trumpet swan, eating fireflies. If I had the world Alone. I …
If I Could Wander the Earth as a Duck: A Poem for Dreamers

Duck Dreams
If I could wander the Earth as a duck
I would keep swimming until I’d waddle.
Waddle and waddle. To make humans laugh.
That’s all I’d want. To make humans laugh.
To share a piece of their world.
From my wet, wobbly corner of quacks.
I will keep wandering until I find one.
A duck friend. To make a quack orchestra with.
To swim two by two. To waddle then and more.
If I could wander the Earth as a duck.
I would keep on swimming.
